Chase Bliss Lossy – Lo-Fi Bit Crusher collaboration with Goodhertz
New Chase Bliss Lossy pedal adds lo-fi manipulation to your rig
Chase Bliss Lossy is the latest effect from the pedal maker and is a collaboration with the software plugin maker Goodhertz. This pedal version of the popular lo-fi effect with the same name could bring DAW lo-fi bit crushing to your pedalboard.
Chase Bliss Lossy
Chase Bliss has worked in collaboration with Goodhertz on the new Lossy pedal. Their Lo-Fi bit crusher effect Lossy is considered one of the most versatile plugins and now you can use it on your pedalboard. The basic idea is based on bit and sample reduction. So your guitar and synth get processed to sound like a broken MP3, or like streaming with a 56k modem.
Loss Modes
There are three “loss” modes in the Chase Bliss Lossy: Submerged sparkles, Feathery plunks, and shifting digital clouds. And each mode “destroys” your sounds a little differently. If you activate one of the two packet modes, the signal will be randomly interrupted, as in the case of a broken CD blank or a bad mobile phone connection.
Controls
There are six controls on the Lossy. Loss sets the strength of the currently selected mode. With Verb above it, you turn the built-in, also beautifully broken-sounding reverb to it. Speed, allows you to decide how quickly and frequently the interruptions activated with the packet switch come. With Global, you adjust the volume of the effect. On the left, there is a filter section with the strength and frequency of a high-pass filter.
A limiter is built in so you can prevent any nastyness. In addition, you can activate a gate with which the signal is rhythmically chopped up.
Plus, there is a whole series of DIP switches on the top with which you can activate additional functions or modes. Various parameters can also be controlled via MIDI, CV, or an expression pedal.
Pricing and availability:
Lossy is currently available for order directly from Chase Bliss, priced at $399.

CB really shines with their “analog heart digital brain” pedals (the last of which happened a while ago)
The Mood and Blooper and Habit aren’t my thing but I suppose they satisfy some workflows
This is pretty boring… every multiFX or daw has some sort of digital degradation, and they all sound the same.
This is the first CB pedal where I’d agree with the usual “overpriced hipster bait” haters often label them with
I agree with this. I own a Mood. Love that pedal, but I feel this pedal isn’t really doing anything new or interesting. I saw in the literature that the plugin of this pedal was the favourite pedal of the pedal demo guy at Chase Bliss – Knobs. Who do they think their target demographic is with this one? I can’t see it selling well. It’s not distinct enough and has a high price. I was hoping it would be an overdrive or Fuzz style pedal with a chase bliss twist like their old Brothers pedal.
Yeah… they’ve reached a point where all the best one-of-kind pedals are discontinued and every new pedal is just another quirky digital thing…. That Isn’t really practical or useable outside of a few gimmicky genres (ever since Knobz joined… what a surprise).
Nowadays even boss release pedals that are far more interesting and innovative than CB (like the DM101 or the 200 series). Weird times 😀
To each their own I guess, I own a MOOD and I actually prefer the sounds this pedal is capable of.
Downvoted for having an opinion, smh
check you digitalis which is great digital destruction plugin as well
