Fender Vintera Series
This story originally broke via a thread entitled Fender Vintera Series on the Talk Bass forum. New instruments from Fender were shown along with pictures and full specifications! The pictures have since been removed from the Fender website, only to be republished later, this time officially. An employee probably clicked on “Publish” too early. Oops!
Vintera. Let us translate: “Vintage Style for the Modern Era”. Although I like the name “Classic Series” much better, but try to imagine how the marketing department at Fender thought this sounded cool and would get players excited.
“For players who want the style and sound of Fender’s golden era. Equipped with the coveted features that defined the decade-including period-accurate neck profile and playing feel, along with a re-voiced pickup. “
We need bass!
Rather than risking something like bass in the form of their Alternate Reality models, it’s better to rely on the usual suspects with proven features. So you get C-neck with 7.25 radius fretboard Pau Ferro or maple (P-Bass), 20 frets, vintage style, ash or alder bodies. And a clear coat of polyurethane . Unfortunately no nitro finishes here.
Will the Classic Series be replaced? Quite possibly, but for now here are some of the specifications lifted straight from the information leaked on the Talk Bass forum, along with some pics for you to drool over.
50s Precision Bass
“The P Bass Split Coil has been revoiced, so it sounds as seismically punchy as the original. That’s exactly what made the P Bass® world famous. The neck in the “50s P Bass C” profile plays with 7.25 “fretboard radius and 20 vintage-style frets are classically supple. The vintage-style bridge features four threaded saddles. The tuners are also authentically vintage and convince with tuning stability and performance. Further details: anodized pickguard, chrome hardware, quadruple screwed neck plate. Including Deluxe Gigbag. “
60s Jazz Bass
“You long for the vibe of the golden Fender era? The Vintera ’60s Jazz Bass brings him back. It is equipped with all the coveted features that have given the music of yesteryear its special power – including time-typical neck profile, feel and newly tuned ’60s pickups. Look forward to the ingenious rumbling growl that made the J Bass® a legend. “
70s Jazz Bass
60s Mustang bass
“The 60s Mustang Bass Split Coil is tuned to sound like the original. Crunchy, pithy, growling. A Fender Tone as e-bassists love it. The neck in the “Mid ’60s Mustang C” profile plays with 7.25 “fretboard radius and 19 vintage-style frets are classically supple. The vintage-style bridge features threaded saddles. The tuners also look authentic vintage and convince with solid tuning stability and performance. Further details: Master Volume and Tone controls, chrome hardware, quadruple screw neck plate. Including Deluxe Gigbag. “
The Mustang fan amongst you will notice that finally this model is offered without additional J-pickup at the bridge.
We’ll no doubt get official information soon, and we’ll update you as soon as we do.
