Origin, maker of high-powered PCs and laptops, announced two new models for gamers and content creators – EON15-S and EVO17-S. Both computers are respectably thin and light, although the 15-incher steals the show with its thinned-out screen bezels. Here’s more about each computer:

In addition to a Core i9-8950HK 6-core CPU, this model can be configured with up to 32GB DDR4 RAM, up to 2 PCIe SSD drives, and has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB desktop-class graphics card. The display has a 1080p resolution and battery life is rated at up to 8 hours of casual use – so expect 3-4 hours of heavy lifting. The laptop also has a hybrid mechanical keyboard with individual key lighting that looks badass. Ports include one USB 3.1 Type C, two USB 3.1 Type A, one USB 2.0, and 2-in-1 card reader as well as two mini DisplayPort and one HDMI outputs for hooking up to external monitors.

EVO17-S

Origin claims this is the thinnest Core i9-powered 17-inch laptop out there with the same 1-inch thickness as the 15-inch model. It’s powered by the same Core i9-8950HD 6-core CPU with the PC maker’s professional overclocking technology for pushing the processor to its limits. The screen is 1080p resolution with 144Hz refresh rate, although the laptop can be configured with an UHD 4K G-SYNC display. The graphics unit is the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 desktop-class GPU with Origin’s GPU overclocking technology. Once again, the laptop can be configured with up to 32GB of RAM, up to two PCIe SSD drives, and one 2.5-inch HDD/SSD. ports include one USB 3.1 Type-C, USB 3.1 Type-A, two USB 3.0, and a 6-in-1 card reader, as well as two mini DisplayPort and one HDMI outputs for hooking up to an external monitor.

There’s clearly no shortage of computing power to these laptops, and the flexibility means you can get them configured to suit most of your needs. Music production ought to be a breeze on these beasts, although being gamer laptops at heart, they are perhaps a little overkill for the purposes of music producers. Video editors, though, ought to happily put those powerful NVIDIA GPUs to work.
