Boss MS-3 Multi Effects Switcher combines internal FX with your favourite pedals
The ultimate in pedalboard and FX control?
Boss has just launched its MS-3 Multi Effects Switcher pedal, with the stated aim of to giving you maximum control of your guitar effects but providing that in a compact, pedalboard-friendly unit. The twist here is that it combines an internal FX engine with ways of looping your own stomp boxes as well. The best of both worlds?
Boss MS-3 Control
Loaded up with 112 Boss GT- Series effects on board for guitar and bass, including delays, reverbs, mod/pitch effects, overdrives, distortions and with MIDI plus switching capabilities, this new compact floor pedal design manages to cram a lot into its small frame.
The new MS-3 can run up to six internal effects at once while also combining three external pedals via the onboard loopers/switchers. But it can also switch your guitar amp’s channels, adjust the effects in real-time and send out data to MIDI effects for control as well. Pretty nifty.
Software Editor
You get 200 onboard patch locations to save presets of effects and control settings for external effects and outboard racks. The MS-3 also has USB for use with the free MS-3 Editor/Librarian software which is available on both Mac and PC.
The rear panel is also full of connectivity and so this could end up being the control hub of your rig and the price is pretty decent as well. The only caveat could be the onboard FX algorithms, which might not be to everyone’s taste. Check out the official Boss demo video below to see one in action.
