Harley Benton PB-Shorty SBK – Mini P-Bass
Stealthy looking new 30" scale length bass
The Harley Benton PB-Shorty SBK delivers the classic P-Bass sound in a small short scale size. Ideal for small hands, and with plenty of punch.
Harley Benton PB-Shorty SBK
Harley Benton’s PB-Shorty SBK is a new mini P-Bass style model. The body is made of poplar and a bolt-on maple neck with a modern C-neck profile. It has an amaranth fretboard fitted with 19 frets. Therefore, it has all the basic ingredients for a decent bass and comes in at a 30″ scale length.
The PB-Shorty SBK is powered by a split-coil pickup in the typical Precision Bass style. Controlled by a single volume and tone control.
Weapon of Choice
It has a stealthy matt black finish and a red tortoiseshell pickguard, which I think makes it look very good. There is matching black hardware throughout, including a solid-looking bridge and a set of PB-style machine heads.
Verdict
I can see it being popular in this style, as it looks like a weapon of choice for low-end fun. Harley Benton knows how to build an affordable instrument and this new bass certainly falls into that category.
