We wrote about Dennis Fano of Novo Guitars earlier this year and now he has also joined up with Eastwood Guitars to announce the launch of Rivolta Guitars. Dennis made his name by launching the Fano boutique guitar brand that still uses his name. Now he has joined up with Eastwood Guitars to bring his luthier skills to this new more budget friendly Rivolta range for 2016.

The Combinata is an odd name, but I suppose it is the combination of Dennis Fano and Eastwood Guitars, so it sort of makes sense if you think like that.
The Combinata features a chambered mahogany body (the burst models feature a maple top rather than a mahogany one) with a really retro German carve top that has elements of both Eastwood Guitar’s other models. These often feature a German carve and also the styling of some of the Fano instruments as well.

Modern Specification
It has a 25” scale maple set-neck with a nice, (presumably) comfortable yet chunky ‘Rivolta C+’ neck profile with 24 medium jumbo frets and a bound rosewood fingerboard. Personally, I prefer chunky necks, so when I read this I was very happy. I always feel a bigger neck often leads to better tone on a guitar.
The Standard model has a traditional-looking, compensated wrap-around bridge. The DeluxeTrem model sports a Duesenberg Les Trem II with roller saddle bridge.
The Combinata is available in either Adriatic Blue Metallic, Pomodoro Red Metallic, Toro Black Metallic and Autunno Burst.

Retro Styling
I really like the look, though some may find them a little odd looking (I’ve already seen people calling them Revolting instead of Rivolta on forums). I love the styling and appreciate things like compensated bridges, 12″ fretboard radius and larger frets. Usually vintage instruments are far from easy to play because of the lack of these little modern tweaks.
