Behringer shows off a desktop UB-Xa protoype
Behringer has revealed a good looking desktop version of their Oberheim OB-Xa clone. It’s called the UB-Xa D and probably won’t be along for a while.
UB-Xa D
Behringer says in a Facebook post that while they are waiting for chips to arrive so they can ship the full-sized UB-Xa, the engineers have been working on the desktop version and here are the first photos.
It’s interesting to see Behringer moving on from the desktop format that they used for the Model D, Pro One and Wasp. It’s perhaps obvious that a polyphonic analogue synthesizer might need a bit more room and thought around the design. Cooling seems to be a factor judging by the grills and fan on the back.
Otherwise, it looks just like you’d expect it to with the familiar OB-Xa colouring and controls. You can see they’ve retained the split modes and also added an arpeggiator and sequencer.
No news on price or availability and there’s a long list of overdue Behringer synths that will hopefully start to emerge soon.

nice. rather have the keyboard. I can wait.
This looks like the form factor from my Deepmind 12 desktop.
Quick observation here why is the mono Jack between the left and the right wouldn’t make sense to pair the left and the right then put the mono Jack on the other side of the left, next the phones?
>If they get this thing sounding really creamy, and it works( And listen I don’t care if it’s not a 1:1 ratio exact clone.)
…
How does this influence Sequential and the OB 6?..
As of right now they are not making any more for whatever reason unknown publicly.
Text labels are confusing and inconsistent. Even at a high level there is not even clear and logical naming of sections: some on top (filter section) and some on bottom (programmer section)
Is this the same person that screwed up the RD-8 pattern divisions?
yessss I’ve been hoping they’d do this, I do not have room for another keyboard fr lol
Yeah I’ll believe it when I see it in person with my own eyes & not a photo whether it be a desktop or keyboard version what
b-ear-ringer says is one thing what they do is a whole ‘nother story & their snipe(ing) track record is pretty shoddy for everyone involved & everything aforementioned thanx for nothing dude (Uli)¡ …..folks
Dear Behringer, make it or don’t. Years of have made this lose is allure for me. Love your model D. Better than the original except I’d rather have had reverb and delay instead of an overdrive and chorus fx units. Make your clones. Give us a ship date and price within $100 street price and musicians will love u for it. Hyping does no one any good
