Riffstation: Learn your favourite songs on guitar for free!
Riffstation, a software designed to help you learn your favourite songs, is now available for free on both Mac and PC. And it actually works.
Riffstation
So what does it do? Load any MP3 file into Riffstation and it will automatically detect the chords and then sync the chord diagrams along with the music, enabling you to work out your favourite songs. Easy. I tried it out on my Mac and it does exactly what it says – it worked out the chord progressions perfectly on the material I tried. It even displays the chord diagrams for the song as well, as promised.
This handy desktop application runs standalone on either a Mac or PC system and you can now download the full version for free. All you need is either a computer running Windows 7 or OSX 10.10 or above.
Slow down
What makes it even better is that you can slow down the song by up to 25% of the original tempo and even pitch shift it as well. This makes Riffstation a great tool for practice, whether you are a beginner or seasoned player that needs to learn new songs fast. You can even isolate the guitar track to make it easier to learn, which I think is very useful. It would certainly have helped me out when I was learning to play the instrument as a child!
There is also a built-in metronome and the ability to loop sections of the song to help you break down the trickier parts and get your head around the details of the track. This is a great freebie and one that could help you conquer your favourite songs, helping you along your way with your musical journey. You can download it from the link below and give it try yourself.
