Rupert Neve Designs produces some of the most revered audio equipment available with the Shelford Channel already recognized as a modern classic when it comes to recording channel strips.

The Newton is basically a budget version of the Shelford with a similar layout that has been stripped back to the bear essentials to make it accessible to a wider base of users.

The channel strip provides you with a Class-A mic preamplifier that also features a sweepable high-pass filter, making it possible to isolate your source precisely when tracking.

The 3-band EQ section can be bypassed, which is useful and there are switchable HF (8 kHz/16 kHz) and LF (60 Hz/150 Hz) shelving filters as well as a sweepable mid-band peaking filter (220 Hz -7 kHz).

The dynamics section is rather simple, with only threshold, release, and gain controls. However, you can add it before the EQ section in the signal path if you wish, or bypass the compressor completely.

Meanwhile, the output section features LED metering for gain reduction and output level as opposed to the VU meter found on the Shelford, but you still get the texture control with a choice of red or blue SILK circuits.
