Win a Minimoog signed by Jan Hammer in Bob Moog Foundation raffle
That’s right, the Bob Moog Foundation have a vintage Minimoog Model D up for grabs in its annual raffle.
If that wasn’t enough then they’ve got it signed by synth legend Jan Hammer, who of course we all remember from that classic 80’s TV show Miami Vice. If I remember rightly his particular party trick was making a synth sound like a distortion electric guitar. All those lead licks in the theme to Miami Vice were not guitar, oh no, they were Jan noodling on a synthesizer.
We have to have a look at that now:
Although Jan was all about the heavily featured Fairlight, he did some earlier work on the Minimoog with the Mahavishnu Orchestra in the early 70’s. Well, regardless of whether you appreciate Jan’s music or not let’s keep our eye on the prize of the flippin’ Minimoog!
Win a Minimoog!
The Minimoog Model D in question is serial number 4311. It was built at Moog Music’s Williamsville factory in New York in 1974. It’s valued at over $5000 and is in excellent condition.
The raffle is open internationally until the 3rd April or until all 7,500 tickets are sold. Last year they sold out in 8 days. The all important ticket price is $20 or $100 for 6 which can be purchased from the Foundation’s online store. Worth a punt you think?

Just to note that the Bob Moog Foundation is not affiliated with Moog Music, it is an independent charity. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit the Foundation’s educational and historical preservation projects.
