NAMM 2019: Over 30 new guitars from Cort including its first 8-string, the KX508MS

Cort is one of those brands that offer good quality guitars at prices that are more than reasonable. In fact, companies like Mansons Guitars have worked with them on some of their Matt Bellamy inspired models in the last few years.

Cort 2019 New Models

There is a lot to cover amongst the 30 plus instruments on offer from Cort in 2019, there’s just way too many new models! However, I have chosen a few that you should be aware of from this year’s extensive line-up.

KX508MS

The new Cort KX508MS is the company’s first ever attempt at an 8-string, low range instrument, making it one of the guitars you need to know about. The top is Poplar Burl while the body is Swamp Ash. It reminds me of some of Ibanez’s models of recent years. This one is loaded with Fishman Fluence pickups and comes in very vivid Mariana Blue Burst finish

X700 Duality

Cort is toting the X700 Duality as its flagship model for 2019. Again, there are massive hints of Ibanez here in the finish and overall aesthetics. But this time it is a Swamp Ash body with a nice Flame Maple top in a Light Blue Burst finish.

The neck is Maple and Panga Panga with an Ebony fretboard that comes fitted with Luminlay side dots and stainless steel frets. This one comes factory-fitted with a Seymour Duncan TB4 bridge humbucker and SH2N neck humbucker.

The trem system is a recessed Cort CFA-III Tremolo System that’ll no doubt let you divebomb and pull up with ease. The machine heads are Cort’s own staggered locking variety, so it should have good tuning.

G290FAT

The G290FAT is slightly subtler than the previous two models in my list, but still has plenty of punch and respectable hardware. These ones look like they would have a broader appeal, I reckon. They come with a Flame Maple Top on a Swamp Ash body and are fitted with VTH-77 pickups.

The Birdseye Maple neck has an Ergo-V profile and a compound radius of 12-15.75”. It should play rather nicely.

This one also has the Cort CFA-III Tremolo System and Cort’s own staggered locking tuners. It comes in either Antique Violin Burst or Bright Blue Burst finishes.

G260CS

Cort’s G260CS model comes in Olympic White, 3 Tone Sunburst and Black finishes. It is a more traditional Strat-style instrument, but with a few nice touches like the Roasted Maple neck with a Pau Ferro fretboard.

The alder body comes loaded with Cort’s new Voiced Tone VTH-59 bridge humbucker and VTS-63 single-coil pickup, with both wired via a treble bleed circuit on the Volume control. This model has traditional bent steel saddles on the vintage-style trem system, with vintage tuners and a bone nut.
