Model 84: Softube takes on the Juno-106
Softube takes a time machine to 1984 and comes back with a circuit modelled polyphonic synthesizer reminiscent of the classic Roland Juno-106.
Model 84
They had their hands on a fully serviced and highly functioning Juno-106 from 1984. Using their circuit modelling technology they’ve pulled it apart and replicated every nuance of this synthesizer including all the quirks and oddities.
How does it sound? Pretty great!
Engineers do like to tweak and so Softube couldn’t resist adding a splash of a more futuristic flavour. They’ve added a Velocity and Aftertouch section giving control over the amp, filter and pulse width. You’ll also find an enhanced Unison mode.
Softube have recreated all the original presets and added a bunch of celebrity ones too so it sounds exactly as you remember and just as you’d want it to.
Modular and Amp Room
One interesting thing Softube has been doing with their emulations is pulling them apart and letting the individual synth components end up as modules in Softube Modular and Amp Room. Modular gets 7 individual modules that can be patched into the Eurorack environment and Amp Room gets the carefully modelled Chorus. It’s a really great feature and makes it more versatile in your software studio.
Model 84 is out now for an introductory price of €99.
